Performance bounds for antenna selection in MIMO systems

چکیده
This paper discusses antenna sub-set selection in multiple-input multiple-output wireless systems. The antennas are selected so as to maximize the channel capacity. We present a nearoptimal selection algorithm that enables tractable statistical analysis of the selection gain. We show that with antenna selection the capacity is statistically lower bounded by the capacity of a set of parallel independent SIMO channels each with selection diversity. We leverage this result to prove the equivalence in diversity order between the full system (all receive antennas) and the system with antenna selection. Simulations validating analysis and illustrating algorithm performance are also presented.

Conical Conformal Antenna Design using the CPM Method for MIMO Systems
Abstract- In this article, the design of conformal antennas has been discussed using the characteristic modes (CM) method. For this purpose, the vector wave function(VWF) has been utilized to achieve a two-dimensional mapping of the conformal antenna. In designing and analyzing of cone-shaped antennas applicable for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, the most important goal is to achieve ...
متن کاملCapacity Performance of Adaptive Receive Antenna Subarray Formation for MIMO Systems
Antenna subarray formation is a novel RF preprocessing technique that reduces the hardware complexity of MIMO systems while alleviating the performance degradations of conventional antenna selection schemes. With this method, each RF chain is not allocated to a single antenna element, but instead to the complex-weighted and combined response of a subarray of elements. In this paper, we derive t...
متن کاملPerformance-Complexity Analysis for MIMO Multiple-Access Channels with Lattice based Sphere Decoders and User Selection
This paper extends the complexity analysis [1]–[3] for MIMO point-to-point systems, to the case of the multiple access channel (MAC). Specifically we derive upper bounds on the complexity exponent required to achieve the optimal diversity multiplexing-gain tradeoff (DMT) performance dmac(r) of the symmetric MAC with K single antenna transmitters and a receiver having nr antennas. Finally we sho...
متن کاملAntenna Selection SFN Precoding Scheme for Downlink Cooperative MIMO Systems
Recently, there has been considerable interest in cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, where the data intended for a user equipment (UE) is simultaneously transmitted from multiple base stations (BSs). In [1], the authors investigated cooperative MIMO as a means to mitigate co-channel interference and to exploit macro-diversity for the Wyner’s model and its variants. Moreo...
